The issue deals with the problem of the relationship of M. Hrushevsky with the representatives of the Polish University Collegium during the end of XIXth - the first third of the XXth century. The reasons of the numerous conflicts between Ukrainian and Polish scientists, which were in the desire to ukrainizing various aspects of the life in the university, have been defined. The facts of cooperation of M. Hrushevsky with the Polish professors, due to the need to solve many current issues: the opening of new departments, their filling of specialists, promotions on the students’ academic degrees have been shown. It is concluded that the relationship of M. Hrushevsky with Polish scientists can generally be considered typical for the relations of intellectuals environments between dominant and conquered nations. It actualizes the further study of the Polish-Ukrainian scientific cooperation, that will allow abandoning the widespread stereotypical view of total interethnic conflict in all areas of life.
