This is a facsimile reprint of the rare autobiographical essay by Michael Hrushevsky which was first printed in 1906 in an edition of fifty copies. In this essay the famous historian and statesman of Ukraine describes his early life. Michael Hrushevsky was born in Kholm on September 29, 1866. He graduated from the University of Kiev and became a professor of history at the University of Lviv from 189A to 1914- Professor Hrushevsky served as the first president of the Ukrainian National Republic in 1917-1918. He then went into exile in Vienna but returned to Soviet Ukraine in 192Д to head the Historical Section of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. In 1930 he was exiled again, near Moscow, and then died on November 25, 193Д at the Kislovodsk sanatorium in the Caucasus. Although he was buried in Kiev, and honored by a state funeral, the Soviet government does not publish his historical works. His monumental ten volume History of Ukraine-Rus established Michael Hrushevsky as the leading Ukrainian historian and one of the greatest Slavic historians. Репринтне відтворення видання 1906 р.
