Vitaliy KHOMENKO. The Issue of Cooperation of Mykhailo Hrushevsky with the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries in the Academic Heritage of Lubomyr Wynar

The article is aimed at analyzing the contribution of L. Vynar to the study of the participation of M. Hrushevsky in the activities of the Ukrai- nian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries. The paper emphasizes on L. Vynar to play a decisive role in the origin and establishment of a new historical academic discipline – Hrushevsky studies. The views of the scholar on the relations of M. Hrushevsky with the party of socialist revolutionaries in 1917–1924 are described.

The article uses methods of historiographical analysis and synthesis, logical, critical, system methods. The novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time in historiography the works of L. Vynar, in which he studied the cooperation of the prominent historian and politician with the SRs have been comprehensively analyzed.

Conclusions are drawn that L. Vynar repeatedly addressed the issue of cooperation of M. Hrushevsky with the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries in his many works. The scholar was interested in the reasons and the time when the historian joined the party, his party activity as the head of the foreign delegation of the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries, political views.

L. Vynar assumed that the historian did not apply for a formal membership in the party of the SRs in 1917–1918. The researcher believed that during the immigration, the former head of the Central Council of Ukraine strove to return to the motherland but the prerequisite for this was the legalization of the activities of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party in Ukraine. Moreover, L. Vynar consistently emphasized the importance of revealing and studying new source materials about M. Hrushevsky.
